Christmas Gatefold Shutter Card

Every month, I get to meet with a wonderful group of ladies and we make one or two cards together.
I've enjoyed it every month, but my favorite of course, is the one for Christmas.  I make us a pile of peppermint mochas and eggnog lattes, and we put our heads down and make a very complicated but stunning card.
This one was all of that and more!
I'm so happy with the way it turned out.

Here is the front:

We used real red (although cherry cobbler would also be stunning).
DSP: pop of paradise
Accent color: old olive
We embossed the pinecone from Christmas Pines:

BUT the most amazing part, is when you open the card up, it opens like a camera shutter!
Here are two pictures to show you what I mean:

Isn't that fun?
And it was actually easier than it looks.

For your card base, you are going to use a  5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of paper (we used real red).
Then score it at 2 1/8 and 6 3/8 (this is the basic gate fold card).
We did two mats.  The green is 1 7/8 x 5 1/4.  The DSP is 1 3/4 x 5 1/8

The inside center piece (real red) is 3 x 5 1/2.
The DSP for the inside is 2 3/4 x 5 1/4.

The shutter pieces are 3 1/2 x 4 (two pieces) we did in the old olive.  You score them on the left side at 1/2" (when you put them on the scorer, put them to be 4" long).
Then you use the big shot to make the circle in the middle piece (glue the DSP to the 3 x 5 1/2 base first).

Then use dimensionals on the corners of the middle piece.
Then is the shutter: Glue the left side first. I used tombow.  Then slide the right piece UNDER the left green piece, holding it and adjusting as needed to create a shutter. Then glue down.
Use a white circle with your sentiment and slide into the shutter when it's open.
You are done your card!

next create a belly band by using a 1 x 11" piece of paper (real red.) fold it over the card so it's tight enough to close the card, but lose enough to slide off. Glue together.
Create the center with a DSP circle and bigger circle on the big shot.  Cut out the leaves and frawns with the christmas pines framelits.  Emboss the acorn in gold.
And voila!

Pun intended hostess stamp set

I'm a really big fan of the hostess sets, because they are such a great deal!
Did you know that by hosting a party or placing an order of $200 or more, you get $20 in rewards free?
And as part of those rewards, you can pick from one of our exclusive hostess stamp sets, worth over 50% more than what you will pay for them.

This one is one of my favorites, because there are endless ideas on pinterest and google for them. You can get it for only $11.50 as part of your FREE rewards!
It's called "Pun Intended":

Here are the cards I made with just this stamp set:

I like the snappy birthday because it's simple for a guy.
And the little bee card is CASED from the main catalogue.
here are the images from the catalogue that are also so cute!
Super fun.
TFlooking!

Cookie Cutter Halloween and Autumn Festivities

I have a confession.
Stampin' Up's Regals Collection isn't my favorite. UNTIL the fall.  And then I fall in love with Cajun Craze, Always Artichoke and Elegant Eggplant.
And it's the PERFECT time to use that Delightful Dijon you were unsure about.

And it just ends up with perfect harmony.
I have a hard time with these fall cards, because instead of wanting to give them away, I want to keep them.
But they look lovely as part of your fall decor!

AND I just love a Z fold card.  You take your basic, regular old 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card, and score one side down at 2 1/8, and voila! You have a fabulous, showy card that takes zero equipment.

HOW CUTE IS THAT???
Ugh, I love that little guy.
Here's a close up of the middle part:

To make:
Stamp sets: Sheltering Tree, Lovely as a Tree, Cookie Cutter Halloween
Punches: Cookie Cutter
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Delightful Dijon, Cajun Craze, Always Artichoke
Other: Big shot and dots embossing folder

And THEN while we were having club, I decided, hey, how about we change up the colors and use the little vampire? I'm not usually so into this type of halloween, but MAN did it turn out cute!

cute right?
Just change up the autumn colors for Basic Black, Elegant Eggplant, Cherry Cobbler and Dapper Denim.
Here's what it looks like closed, it fits in a regular envelope, right with the rest of your cards!

Stampin' Up Holiday Catalog

I am not ashamed to say I am IN LOVE!!!!
I just LOVE the new stampin' up holiday catalog.
There is so much in this baby that I don't even know where to begin.

The first thing that caught my eye (and the first thing I ordered) is the Cookie Cutter Bundle.

I mean come on!!!!
Made by: heartsdelightcards

Almost too cute to give away! (almost. Tip: make two and keep one to display!!!)
 Made by: Jari
So sweet:

Just BEYOND great. I already know that I am going to use it for my Christmas Stamp a Stack coming in November! I love the reindeer and the gingerbread man.
This bundle comes with the Christmas set and the punch for $44.50

AND THEN I SAW THE HALLOWEEN MATCHING SET!!!!

I don't want to give away my club card so I will show you ONE I found like I like:

okay two ;)

If you are less into the cutesy and more into the serene and nature, check this one out!:

This set Christmas Pines also comes in a bundle for the big shot.  $69 well spent in my opinion!

Beautiful.

And then there's the Christmas Sweater Embossing Die.  Yup, you read that right.

IT EMBOSSES TO LOOK LIKE A CHRISTMAS SWEATER!!!!

And then.  Finally.  The thing I gasped over.  Nearly cried with delight.

THE CHRISTMAS OWL.

This is only available to host/hostesses.  Which means you need to host a party! Which I would love.  Or just get a $200 order together between you and friends.  Or just you ;)

So. Stinkin. Adorable.

What are YOUR favorite things from this Catalog? I'd love to hear from you :)

baby shaker card, pineapples, and Remarkable You

Well, this summer came and went in like a storm.
I had fun with some new stamp sets in the big catalogue for our club cards this summer, which was very relaxed!
The first is a shaker card for a baby girl.
This can easily be adapted for a baby boy and is cute and fun!

It uses one of the hostess stamps, LOVE YOU LOTS so so fun (141801). I'm also super happy with the new foam adhesive strips (141825).
Stamp Sets:      Love You Lots
                         Painter's Palette
Paper and Ink: Blushing Bride
                        Smoky Slate
                        Whisper White
Other: Foam Adhesive Strip
Blushing Bride ribbon
           Hearts punch
           Banners punch

This next one uses a stamp from the set REMARKABLE YOU and I'm obsessed.

I love the different images, and i LOVE this technique of only coloring inside the frame.

Stamp sets:     Remarkable You
                       Painter's palette

Paper and Ink: Peekaboo Peach
                        Basic Black
                        Whisper White

Other:           Foam Adhesive Strip
                     Baker string

This next one is CASED directly from the main catalogue.  It wasn't what I planned to do for club but the item I ordered ended up back ordered and we needed something ASAP!
This is from Pop of Paradise, which I just love

And the last one was also a last minute scramble, highlighting an older set Sprinkles of Life. I love the background, and think it's super fun.

Balloon Builders Class

I was really struck by the stamp set "balloon builders", and couldn't wait to get my hands on it!
There are quite literally endless ways to use it.

Here is a class I'm having in mid July, doing 5 cards with just this one set!!!

How fun are they?  I had the best time creating them.
Come join the fun! I am in Surrey, BC.

3 OPTIONS:
#1: $12 to make the 5 cards shown
#2: $15 to make the 5 cards shown PLUS envelopes
#3: $25 to make the 5 cards shown PLUS envelopes PLUS your OWN "balloon builders" stamp set to take home (must let me know by July 1st if you'd like this option).

This is the stamp set:

Here are some other simple things you can do with this set!

Open House and Pop of Paradise

I always look forward to June.  June is new catalogue month! I show INCREDIBLE self discipline by NOT peeking at the catalogue on the computer until it is IN MY HANDS at home.  Then I make myself a latte, sit myself down on my patio outside on my deck, and spend the next hour (or two!) going through the catalogue, making notes, and generally just being so content with life!

So I was especially excited to get this stamp set for free! As a demonstrator, there are many perks (including up to 25% off on orders) and as part of a promo for selling during Sale-a-bration.
This is "pop of paradise". It is $19, which I think is an awesome deal for this set! It coordinates with some amazing DSP "pop of pink" and also some of the big shot dies.
For my annual Open House we made this card:
We embossed the background with gold.  The color is the new flirty flamingo which we just LOVE!!!! And the gold ribbon is a nice touch.  Both of the DSP is from the "pop of pink" DSP, which is nice, and has some melon mambo which would've worked, too!

Saleabration 2016

I really love saleabration! How many companies offer amazing FREE quality products like this?  Not many that I can think of.
Two of my favorite sets are botanicals for you and honeycomb happiness.
We used both for this months club!
This is the closed card for botanical for you.  I love this fold! You start with your basic 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card, then score the front of the card at 2 1/4, and fold it back.  I used the "ovals" from the big shot to perfectly fit the "just for you", but if you don't have it, you could also use a square cut!
When it opens it looks like this:

And standing on a table or mantle:
So fun! Lots of fun images in this stamp set:
Next we used the honeycomb happiness set from saleabration to make this adorable card! We used the new honeycomb embellishments on the ice cream cone image, and paper doilies from the regular catalogue.  And I love my new brick embossing folder for the big shot!

Wouldn't the chick be perfect for easter?

valentine's love and easiest birthday card ever!

i love to make my husband a valentine's card, and I always really struggle with how to make it about love and valentines, but not so girly he wants to gag.  SO I took an idea I saw on pinterest and came up with this!

The colors are early espresso for the tree, blushing bride as the pink, and real red.  After I made it, I kind of wished that I had used cherry cobbler... but here we are!
This stamp set is called "sheltering tree" and I find i'm using it constantly! for the sentiment I used a retired stamp, but there are many, many beautiful stamp sets that have love you on them in the new ocassions catalogue that you can see here! http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/CategoryPage.aspx?categoryid=110500

Then for club, I showed off a card I CASED from Mary Fish (my go to website when I want easy but stunning ideas!!!)
I used different shades of blues and an aqua pen.  I embossed in WHITE the Happy Birthday so it really popped (and so I didn't have to wait for the whisper white ink to dry, which takes a WHILE, and who has time for THAT?!)
finally I added some "dazzling diamonds" with a little tombow and BAM!

I also made some with blender pens, just to show the difference, and I ended up making a bunch of them for our teenagers, because I liked that it looked a bit messier and younger.

This stamp set is ONLY available for a limited time, and is FREE with orders of $60 or more!
Check out this stamp set and the rest of the FREE Saleabration items here:
