Christmas... already?

Okay, so I tend to be a little ahead of the curve on Christmas Stuff... I start decorating my house on November 1st, and drag out the boxes (I think we're up to 21 boxes now!) and start listening to Christmas Music, and bring out the Christmas CD's... so needless to say, I'm super stocked about Christmas! I love when the weather starts to get crisp (especially when it's so sunny out!) and hot apple cider... and the start of Christmas Baking.  I am THRILLED that Stampin' Up! is offering some amazing deals to get you in the mood, too! Select Christmas Supplies are 20% off, from now until December 16th... so you can start early, too!
There's nothing like an evening of Christmas prep, from making tags, (more about that later!) to homemade Christmas Gifts... who wouldn't love that?
See below for the stamp set photos and some samples of what you can make.

Fail!

Okay, so my youth do this thing where if someone does something wrong or bad or whatever, they say "Fail!" Which is how I feel about my blog... I have so many things I'd love to blog about, if ONLY I had the time! I got out of habit of writing twice a week, and now it's been over a month!
So here's a little bit of what's going on:
We had a Christmas-Stamp-a-Stack last weekend, and that went really well... we came together, listened to some Christmas music, and made 12 cards in 3 hours!  It was delightful... we even had apple cider... unfortunately, it was 25 degrees outside (celsius), so I ended up icing the coffee!
Here is one of the cards we made:
I wanted to go a little untraditional with the colors on this one... simple, but beautiful!
The second isn't exactly what we did, because after I took this picture, I didn't like how the sponging turned out, so I actually redid it, but it gives you the basic idea:

I LOVE this stamp! This is a border stamp, that is one giant stamp... It's in our new holiday mini, which I just LOVE. This is the cherry cobler, and the champagne glitter, which is also in the mini.  Go to my website to order any of these time sensitive product! http://www.fortheheartofstampin.stampinup.net/

I'm going away a lot in the next month... next weekend some girls and I are heading to Portland for the Stampin' Up! Regionals... this is my first official Stampin' Up! event, and I'm really excited!  Then we get back Sunday, and tuesday I leave for Whisler, where I will be attending a Pastor's Convention with my husband... then we are back for 2 weeks, and we head to Disneyland with our girls! I am so looking forward to it! Addie is now nearly 6 months, and Audrey remembers Disneyland from the last time we went (I am proud to say this will be her 5th visit in her 3 years)... it should be a wonderful time with our family.

That's all for now! More info on my Build-a-Bear Mommy and Me Class to come!

Notebook Class... and more to come!

It's one day before youth camp, and by now I'm usually freaking out... I happen to be doing administration, candy cabin, hostessing and worship... lots on my plate.  But I have a total peace and know that God is going to do amazing things!

Last week we had our Notebook Classes... 6 of the 7 people that came are coming with me to camp tomorrow... and their notebooks look amazing! I thought that I'd share them with you...

I did a 6 x6 scrapbook page with the brayer and the palm trees from the Tropical Party stamp set and matching paper... I am going to shed a few tears when this retires in a few days... it's not too late to get yours!  They decided to adapt the 6 x 6 card for the notebook.

Here's the scrapbook page:

Here's Heidi's, she'll be giving it to one of the girls in her cabin:
And Braeden's:

Braeden's sister is in Cambodia, so he made this for her (so sweet!)

I did a 6 x6 scrapbook page with the brayer and the palm trees from the Tropical Party stamp set and matching paper... I am going to shed a few tears when this retires in a few days... it's not too late to get yours!  They decided to adapt the 6 x 6 card for the notebook.

Melissa and Audrey decided to adapt the club card I did for this month.  We used the "Sweet Centers" set, that came back into our new catalogue.
Here's the card:

I love that Melissa put sparkles in the clouds:
Audrey did an adaptation as well:
Very nice!

Michelle used a retired set called "Summer by the Sun", and did her own, completely on the top of her head (that always amazes me that people can do that!)
Just lovely.

And then there was Billy.  He liked a spinner card I did with the Eastern Blooms set a long time ago, so he choose that stamp set and to do a spinner.  It turned out awesome!

The colors are recommended by the new color coach... if you don't have one, it's amazing!  This is marina mist, early espresso and wild wasabi.

I love the notebooks...

Don't forget that my Trendy Trees class is coming up on September 15th... $25, this includes the stamp set and making 5 cards with the set, or just come for $10 and make the cards.  Only 3 spots left!
Here's a sneak preview of one of the cards we will make... perfect stamp set for the fall!

So fun!

The good thing about selling off a bunch of retired stuff is being able to buy new stuff!  I've been having WAY too much fun with my new tools.
I got a brayer... this was my first time using one, and I'm completely hooked!  This is a picture of the first time I made a sky... it's considered "advanced brayering", so I feel pretty good about it! This is using the "Inspired by Nature" set (which totally inspired me!) and then just a brayer and inks:
So fun!
Look for a brayer class coming soon... you will learn to do this technique, and the brayer is included!
Then I needed to make a card for a workshop I did this month, and the hostesses fell in love with two step stamping... which is where you have an outlined image, and then a stamp that fills in the outlines.  So they choose Awash with Flowers, and Short and Sweet.
Here's the card we did for the workshop:
This is probably one of my favorite color combos ever!  This is pretty in pink, tempting turquiose and the new pear pizzazz.  I love this green!  I didn't think anything could take over in my heart wild wasabi.  Enter pear pizzazz!
And then, I was sitting awake feeding my three month old daughter, Addie, and was thinking that the front of the card needed a bit of punch.  So here are two variations I came up with:

The one on the left is using the color spritz tool, which brings me back to my childhood!  You put one of our fabulous stampin' write markers in the tool (the markers match the card stock and ink exactly) and press the puffer... and have a subtle look!  I actually used the new blushing bride, which is a little hard to see... very understated.
The second one is using the vanilla smooch spray... and I am addicted!  So pretty.
I have several classes coming up you may want to watch for: The brayer class, as mentioned above, a Trendy Trees class, which includes the stamp set Trendy Trees, a Mommy and Me class with my new Build a Bear Dies for the Big Shot and of course the ever popular Christmas Stamp a Stack... I will be offering at least 2 of these classes in the fall, and beware... they fill up fast!

Summer is finally here!

It's over 20 degrees today! Didn't think it would EVER happen... it's supposed to be gorgeous all week... lots of outside time for me and my girls!
The only down side was I planned to scrapbook Audrey's baby album all day tomorrow and thursday... guess I'll have to save it for another rainy day!
Speaking of summer, do you have the Tropical Party stamp set yet?!  What about the Tropical Oasis DSP?
I just LOVE it... love it, love it, love it.  I want to redo every scrapbook I've ever done and use this set!  I'm going to do a Luau Theme for Audrey's 3rd birthday party, and use it... THAT'S how much I love it!
Here's the scrapbook page we did last month at club: (don't forget, new clubs starting in August... email me at yummy_starbucks@yahoo.ca for more details!
Wasn't the best planning taking a picture of an old olive stamp page on an olive wall... oh well!  Hope you enjoy the summer weather while it lasts!

canada day!

Happy Canada Day! My sister and I took our kids to Cloverdale to celebrate... we got to see Charlotte Diamond (my daughter loves her!) and get their faces painted... the weather is the absolute pits!
I'm getting all ready for the Open House on Saturday: here's the card you will be making:
You will be able to use some of the new colors: This is Marina Mist and pear pizzazz, there will also be daffodil delight and cherry cobbler available.  It's just a simple thank you card, but sometimes less is more!
Don't forget you still have 2 more days to order something from my website to get an arms length of tickets for saturday's open house (you do not need to be attending to get the tickets and win the door prizes).  My website is:http://fortheheartofstampin.stampinup.net .  I would especially encourage you to order from the clearance rack... retired items for up to 60% off! This is the only way to get retired items.
See you Saturday!

sad day...

I'm feeling pretty blue today.  Danny just left for 12 days for a Mexico Missions Trip...a  trip I've gone with him on for the past 2 years.  This is by far the longest we've been apart since we've been married, and on top of that, I'm left with a 3 year old and a 2 month old!
I've got some fun things planned for us to do, and I was left with the van, so that's different... I'm looking forward to being able to get out of the house whenever I want!
The other reason for my sadness is I've been going through my stamp sets for the retirement party on Saturday... and have decided to say goodbye to 17 stamp sets.  This is a REALLY big deal for me, as I tend to have collector instincts... so even if I don't use the stamp sets very often, I have a hard time saying goodbye.  In fact, my shoulders are super tense just thinking about it!  But, I just have to remind myself that I will get to buy new stamp sets... so that's super exciting!
Ahhhh.... it could be a really long week.  If you haven't rsvp'd for saturday, make sure you do it... just remember to take really good care of my stamp sets! *sigh.

summer is...

okay, WHERE exactly is the summer?  By now we've usually had several picnics outside or gone to the waterpark across the street... and nothing!
I did a scratch and sniff card with club in May, thinking that summer would be right around the corner! Well, so much for that.

Now, even as a demonstrator, I get completely stuck on projects.  I knew that I wanted to do the scratch and sniff technique, and I knew that I wanted to use the tart and tangy set... which is the obvious choice for scratch and sniff because it has a citrus stamp, that can be grapefruit, orange, lemon or lime, a strawberry, a cherry and an apple.

So I started making the card, and here's what came out:
I just loved how the scratch and sniff turned out... but hated the color combination!  I was going for a realistic color combo, but it didn't feel right.  So I did everything almost exactly the same, but changed the colors and LOVE the card!
This is the difference color change can make, which is why I bought Stampin' Up's new Color Wheel... it is SO much better than the old one... this one you can pull up the colors that you like, and there is even help with why certain colors go together.
Then, when I did it with club, they all picked different color combos as well.
Which card do you like better?

The Waiting is over!

So excited I had to pop on and share with you... I got my new catalogue yesterday... jealous?!  It's so unbelievably wonderful, I don't know where to begin.  At first I was devistated by the "color renovation"... but when I got my hands on the catalogue, I just sat in awe!
For starters, prices have gone DOWN, which almost never happens (okay, for Canadians... I heard the prices went up almost 25% for Americans... not quite as fun!  LOVE being Canadian:) ) the new images are amazing, and the layout for the catalogue is just increadible!  All of the stamp images that coordinate with punches are outlined in color, so that you don't have to guess what fits, the punches are all new, and don't even get me started on the DSP (Designer Series Paper...) GORGEOUS!
Do you want to get your hand on this beautiful new catalogue? It's super easy... join a stamp club (New Clubs starting in August!) and get one FREE... or come to my new catalogue Open House on July 3rd... and put in an order for at least $25 to get one free!
There will be TONS of door prizes, a free make and take (a card you will make and take home), demonstrations, and retired stuff for sale! You don't want to miss it, so mark your calenders now!
Open from 1 - 4 (current club members get in at 12:30!)
To be eligible for door prizes:

ONE ticket for rsvp'ing
ONE ticket for bringing a friend
ONE ticket for commenting on this post!
FIVE tickets for EVERY $25 you spend
FIVE tickets for signing up for monthly club
ARMS LENGTH of tickets (your arm or mine!) for putting in an online order between now and the open house (any amount: website is http://fortheheartofstampin.stampinup.net)

This is one morning that I hop out of bed with no hesitation... because the last chance lists are here!  Okay, I know that sounds ridicioulous, but I just love seeing what stamp sets they aren't going to offer in the next catalogue, and what accessories are retiring... but what I love more than anything is a bargain... and on some of the accessories, they are offering up to 50% off!!!!
What a great day... and this means we are only ONE MONTH away from our new catalogue! yes!
Here's the link to the retiring stamp list and accessories on www.stampinup.com.

Gone forever!

Just thought I'd pop on and post what is no longer available to order... ever again!
I can't believe how fast things are going, and the Retired List isn't even out yet.  I'm still not completely over that they are getting rid of so many of my favorite colors... but I know that I will love the new colors tons.... *sigh.

Here's the list:

100038: Mellow Moss Stampin' Write marker
100039: Barely Banana Stampin' Write marker
100043: Almost Amethyst Stampin' Write marker

101563: Sage Shadow card stock (8-1/2" x 11")
102837: Only Orange card stock (8-1/2" x 11")
107079: Sage Shadow card stock (12" x 12")
107101: Close to Cocoa card stock (12" x 12")

Hodgepodge

I feel like I've been hit by a truck!  Elisia's wedding was yesterday, and it was so wonderful!  But with the wedding, and a newborn, and well, just life, I feel soooooo tired!
Not much going on around here today.  In fact, I'm proud to say that both of my girls are still in their pj's, and i haven't done my hair or makeup.
Just one of those days!
Well, as promised, I will update what is no longer available... keep in mind that it is no longer available INEVITABLY!

101563: Sage Shadow card stock (8-1/2" x 11")
107101: Close to Cocoa card stock (12" x 12")
102837: Only Orange card stock (8-1/2" x 11")
107079: Sage Shadow card stock (12" x 12")

Who would've guessed the first two colors to be completely sold out would be sage shadow and only orange?  not me:)

Here is a card we did last month for mother's day.  It is an easel card, which is a beautiful technique that I learned on splitcoaststampers.  if you've never checked out this website, I really recommend it!  You can get resources to learn how to do tons of different kinds of cards, and you can even look up stamp sets that you like or own, and case cards from it!  Here's the link to the easel card tutorial: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/easelcard/

Here is the card that I created with the "vintage vogue" stamp set.  It was in the Occasions Mini... and will definitely be in the new catalogue!

I used perfect plum, old olive and pale plum, on very vanilla.

Lastly, I'm doing a Birthday Card Stamp-a-stack on June 13th from 5pm to 8pm... $20 for 12 cards... 3 each of 3 designs... you don't want to miss it... only 3 spots left... sign up by June 1st.

Retiring colors going fast!

Okay, so I was on the Stampin' Up website this morning, and saw that they are already running out of some of the colors that are retiring... and they aren't getting any more!
This means that if you want any of the inks, reinkers, paper, or DSP (Designer Series Paper) that has retiring colors in it, you're going to want to get it fast!  I'm willing to offer free shipping on any orders over $50... and will be putting in an order this week.
Here's a look of the colors that are retiring, if you've forgotten:
I will be keeping updates fairly often what has sold out.
So far, it's just the sage shadow 12 x 12 paper.  Don't wait too late to get your favs!

Wedding Bells

My sister is getting married in 6 days!  That seems unreal to me... we have been really busy with preperations, as I am a Bridesmaid, and my husband is officiating the service... very exciting!
This is the card I made for the church shower we had for her a little while ago... she has a disney princess theme for the wedding (not overkill, just little things like roses, and a glass slipper on top of the cake, that sort of thing) so I used an old set that I love called to have and to hold... and came up with this!

The colors are rose red and pretty in pink, and I used dazzling diamonds and the glitter from stampin' up!

Baby Thank you's!

Addie is already almost 4 weeks old... I can't believe how fast that went!  I've been working on my thank you cards for all of the beautiful gifts I've received from friends... I don't know WHY I waited until Addie was born to do it (well, partly because I didn't know if she would be a girl or a boy, and I didn't really want to do yellow thank you cards).
This is what I came up with:
(sorry, it's a little dark).  This uses a jumbo wheel called "wash day" that is retired that I just love!  I used the Oval All stamp set for the sentiment, and as an ode to the Retiring colors, Pale Plum, Apricot Appeal (both are retiring) and Pretty in Pink (which is staying, thank goodness!)
I love a baby card!

Where to start?

I have not been overly productive this week.  When Audrey is asleep, I tell myself I'm going to get lots done, clean up that closet, organize the baby clothes, start those Baby Thank You cards for all the wonderful gifts I've received.  Then I put Addie on my chest, and say... "just 5 more minutes".
It doesn't help that Addison is a ridiciously content baby... I know that babie's are all pretty easy at this stage, but she's so relaxed and peaceful it makes me relaxed and peaceful!
Here's a sample of a 3 x 3 card I did for thank you's for people that helped out with the Amazing Race... I had to make almost 50 cards, so I went with the mini cards... using "Hello Again", one of the simplest, most adorable sets in the catalogue!

Baby Addie

Well, if you're wondering why I haven't written in a while, that would be because Baby Addison Sadie decided to join us on April 17th... a full week before she was due! God is good, though, because I had finished my last piano lesson, danny preached his message for the youth group... and 5 hours later, I was undeniably in labour!  Danny took the week off to help me with the girls... and it has been the most restful and peaceful week!
As I type, Addie is snuggled against me, and I feel so full of love I can't even describe it!
Here's a picture of our beautiful girl:
Born at 17:17 on April 17th, weighing6 lbs 15.2 oz.  And what a tremendous blessing she has been to me!

ice cream

I love ice cream! Audrey and I have it daily with strawberries after our walk in the park in the early afternoon... I think it's one of the best things ever made.
So when I saw this card in one of my Stampin' Success Magazines, I was completely inspired.  We did it for club last month... it uses Rose Red, Rich Razzleberry and Pretty in Pink... (could there be a better combo of colors?)  It used the "On a Pedestal" stamp set, which I now officially can't live without!  It was so fun to make!
Here's what it looks like: (cased from Linda Vandermeulen)
It just makes my heart happy!
There is a new ice cream set coming out in the Summer Mini, too, that I can't wait to get my hands on!  Watch for info coming soon...

Babies and butts...

Just wanted to post a few more samples of what I've been working on while counting down the birth of our second (11 days to Due Date...!)
We're having a surprise lingerie shower for my sister who is getting married, and here are some of the invites:
Teehee!  We just kinda freehanded them... used various patterned paper, and scallop punches... to make the bra, we used the Scallop Circle and Large Circle for the Big Shot.  So fun!
I also had the priviledge of going to a friends baby shower on Saturday, and here is the card I made for her:
So cute!  I think I'm going to make a few extras for my baby scrapbooks I haven't started yet! (yes, Audrey is 3... but that's not the point:) ).

big, big, BIG Stampin' Up news!!!

Wow, I have been enjoying Stampin' Up products for 3 years and NEVER have I seen such a big shift in how they do things!
They have introduced a "color renovation"... and anyone that's gone through a renovation (and yes, I have!) understands that this means changes, and problems, and time to get used to change...
and that's exactly what just happened with Stampin' Up! They introduced to demonstrators yesterday that they are completely changing the way they have done colour... instead of having 4 colour families, plus neutrals, we have scaled down to 40 core colours... including 5 never before seen colours!
Here's a sneak peak:
Okay, now, if you're anything like me, you're kinda freaking out right now.  You're saying... what does this mean?  What about taken with teal?  What about pale plum?  But let me tell you , this is a wonderful change!  There are 5 brand new core colors, (daffodil delight, cajun craze, marina mist, cherry cobbler and early espresso) that are absolutely fabulous!  Not to mention 10 returning IN COLORS! (melon mambo, rich razzleberry, pacific point, tangerine tango, soft suede, river rock, riding hood red, wild wasabi, baja breeze and pink pirouette).

Now, the sad part is... saying goodbye to 30 colours you may love... the good news is, you have June 30th to stock up on your favs!  Now, I recommend doing this asap... because they will go on backorder, or may even become unavailable... so I will be putting in an order THIS WEEK... email me at yummy_starbucks@yahoo.ca for more info!
here are the colors we have to say goodbye to:
Now, there's one more piece of good news... on July 1st, with our new catalogue... we still get 5 new IN COLOURS!  And you haven't heard the best part... they stay for 2 YEARS!  And, this may sound confusing, but bear with me... n addition to that, there's a new format for In Colours – now, we will have 5 new In Colors each year, with each set lasting for 2 years instead of just one. In July 2010, the first 5 new In Colors will be released and run until June of 2012. In 2011, 5 additional new In Colors will be released and run until 2013. So every year there will be a change, but there will always be 10 In Colors after this first year.  I'm so excited!

Well, that was a lot of information... but now it's your turn!  Anyone who comments on this post will go in a draw to win a stampin' pad and 8 1/2 by 11 paper of one of the retiring colors!  I want to know what color you're most excited about, and what color you're sad to see go... and I'll post more info as soon as I have it!

This also is the month of our due date of our second child on April 24th... I'm excited, and feel like there are still a million and one things to do to get ready, but I know that the baby will come anyway, regardless of me being ready, and at least this time I have a functional kitchen and bathroom!

Odds and Ends...

Well, I finished my last workshop on Saturday for a while, as the baby is coming in a month.  I will still be doing my monthly club, but I thought it would be wise to take a break from workshops for 6 weeks or so.
I'm still planning for a Birthday Stamp-a-Stack (where you make 12 birthday cards, 4 each of 3 designs in an afternoon) for May, but other than that, just trying to relax and enjoy spending time with Audrey, who is 2 1/2.
Here is a sample of a 6 x 6 that my sister and I came up with: (my sister Heidi and her husband, and myself and my husband, purchased a house together where we live up and down from each other but in seperate residences).
I think it is simple and beautiful!  Colors are basic black, melon mambo and rich razzleberry.  The stamp set is once again "Priceless" (I canNOT stop using that set!)  I used the new edge punch from Sale-a-bration for the embellishment in the middle.

Youth Birthday Cards

Danny and I usually give out birthday cards to our teenagers (we are youth pastors) when it's their birthdays... this year I've decided to make them, to give that extra personal touch.
This is for the boys:
It uses Pacific Point and Kiwi Kiss, old "In Colors" that I just loved, but barely got to use because my house flooded.  The stamp set is Party Hearty, which to me is the most versitale of all the birthday sets.  I have made birthday cards from it for toddlers, grandparents, and teenagers, and never tire of the many possibilities!
This is for the girls:
This is a card I've done several varients of, as it is so simple, yet eye catching!
I used "In Colors" again from when I first started, man I loved those colors! This is Groovy Guava, Purely Pomegranate, Blue Buyou, and Wild Wasabi.  This is the "Hello Again" stamp set, and I think everyone should have it! It's only $16.95, and you can use it for so many things... scrapbooking, valentine's day cards, birthday cards, thank you cards, for a cute display... I could go on and on, but I won't:)
